Context: Victoria is growing and becoming more diverse. Jobseekers from diverse backgrounds face barriers in finding work. Research from all over the world tells us that diversity is good for the workforce, the economy, and the community. Culturally diverse teams are more creative and solve complex tasks more efficiently than culturally homogenous teams.
Recruit Smarter is a multi-sector strategic initiative of the Victorian Government to develop inclusive recruitment practices and address unconscious bias in recruitment. It was run over 2 years around 3 priorities: trialling new approaches, designing best practice and sharing knowledge.
Crealo produced a series of small simple infographics used in a 2017 social media campaign. 2018 saw the culmination of the research, and we engaged in the creation of a range of visual material aimed at audiences from the general public to employers, as well as government officials.
This included a 4 pages summary infographics, painting the context of the initiative, the findings of 2 years of research conducted with Melbourne University and the Centre for Ethical Leadership and VicHealth, around the trial of new approches like CV de-identification and unconscious bias training, collaboratively developed best practice guidelines, and series of knowledge sharing.
A second piece of work was the design of the Key Findings document, using many graphics and photography throughout the content to present the ideas and numbers in interesting ways, and third piece was the complete research report.
